This is one of Al Bowlly's best know songs and he is with Ray Noble and orchestra. This recording was made 14 November 1931. Al came to this country (UK) in the summer of 1928 as a wandering minstrel from South Africa, via the far east and Germany. He played guitar, banjo, ukulele, piano but above all he sang in a mellow appealing voice which gave him a good living once it had established him as a top artist. He died on the 17th April 1941 in a bomb blast and we lost a gem of a star. He was the very first Pop Star in the true seance of the word. The record is on the EMI World Record label Retrospect Series 1983. The record player is a Hitachi Direct Drive Turntable HT- 354 I have had the turntable from new in 1978 the amp is my old friend a JVC Midi and Jamo speakers from a gift as no longer wanted. This song is liked by Tom Brady who plays mandolin and guitar on You tube. Tom enjoy :) More to Follow..............
